Anna and Francesco are human member of Fairies family; with our Yorks, there are our 8 household stray cats, and our 2 dogs, Maverick and Wendy. Our adventure in the cat world started on 1991, when we found our first cat: Giovedì. It is unnecessary say that meeting changed our life. Since then, cats entering our life were so many... all stray rescued, some of them so suffering and hurted to think we could do nothing to save them. Some of them stayed with us, many others found a new adoption family, few unfortunately left us, but they are always alive in our hearts. Today, we cannot give up to rescue stray cats and kittens, but we do not permit they come in contact with ours. Our cats, and breeding cats, are regularly vaccinated, tested FIV-FELV. Fairies idea takes birth on 1990, when the italian magazine Argos publish a service about a new american chocolate breed, not yet recognized, and then, it starts becoming real on 1996, when we have contact with a canadian breeder, human dad of our first York Chocolate Bailey. The male arrives home the next summer, and patienly we start waiting young promises become adults and give us the first litter. But nature does not do easy things: young Thimhallan is very shy and at the first Bailey's slap gives up. Then: no kittens. We cannot surrender, and try an other way: it is the time of the three brothers: Mustardseed, Oberon and little Ghillie Dhu, lovely crazy fairy. We start waiting again, because the three are just kittens, and finally our dream get true on march 2000. The mum tender Ghillie Dhu and dad the shy Thimhallan. After Thimhallan's example Mustardseed breaks out and voilà all his lavender litters... We surnamed him Inseminator ;-). Second time of Thimhallan happens on October 2001 with Bailey, giving us our second stud Little Thimhallan. Our way is just at the beginning, we have 3 national champions, lots of love for this breed and lots of work to do. On August 2002 we get the Official Recognition of the Breed by World Cat Federation, thanks to Fiaf and thanks to help of all new York Chocolate owners who accepted to take their cats to the recognition catshow. Without them we could not do anything. Now our goal is concentrated in assuring genetic stability to the breed through a valid out-cross and adoption program, in order to help the breed to survive for our joy and those of all people felt in love with this extraordinary cat.
